Redding Bathroom
The clients, Howard and Tracy Redding, are recently married in their early 30s and live right outside of San Francisco. Howard likes modern and clean lines with smart-home technology. Tracy prefers texture and earthy elements. The primary challenge was to create a space that combined both of their wants. The proposed design for the remodel of their bathroom conforms to their needs and preferences by blending clean lines with warm and earthy touches. Some of the design decisions made are listed below:
- Clean lines throughout bathroom for a modern aesthetic
- White oak vanity and cabinet materials for a warm and earthier feel
- Terrazzo vanity countertops for texture with neutral coloring
- Hexagon shaped Carrara marble floor tiles for texture
- Light sage green tiles on accent wall in wet room and white tiles on adjacent walls in a vertical pattern
- Brushed nickel fittings for both a warm and modern touch
- Rounded freestanding soaking tub with clean lines
- Separate smaller vanity for sitting activities
- Ample storage from tall unit, vanity drawers, and drawer on extra sitting vanity
- Wet room separated only by glass to keep the bathroom open and spacious
- 1x1 wood spaced 1 inch apart for toilet separation and for the more earthy element
- Wall-hung toilet with smart toilet seat featuring comfort wash, heated seat, warm air dryer, odor extraction, automatic opening/closing of lid, remote control, app operation, and descaling function
- Exhaust fans with automatic humidity motion sensors and adjustable fan speed
- Windows in wet area and clerestory window above vanities to provide lots of natural light
